pascal klewer

in 2017 i founded my bigband with the goal of combining avantgarde and improvised music with contemporary bigband, two big structures within my own creative development at the time.
throughout this time we recorded several albums (chasing memories – unit records, live at khg – stssts records, live at loft – stssts records) and played over 100 compositions of mine, mostly connected to my concert series pascal klewer bigband meets, where i had the pleasure to write and play music for and with my dear friends in the band and heroes of mine, such as peter brötzmann, evan parker, christopher dell, christian lillinger, niels klein, pablo held (as part of my 222-festival), kit downes and kathrin pechlof.
the band consists of many long-time friends and collaborators. while meeting at a young age in youth jazz orchestras such as the bujazzo, now, each one of them have found a unique voice in the european jazzscene, leading to nominations of the deutscher jazzpreis (felix henkelhausen), winning the cologne jazz-award (fabian dudek, felix hauptmann) and playing or leading some of the most thought-after ensembles in the scene (to name a few..percussion (felix hauptmann), bokoya (lucy liebe), linntett (kira linn), structucture (roger kintopf), jim black´s shrimps (asger nissen, felix henkelhausen), fabian dudek quartett, and many more.
now as my own process develops, this part of it came to an end with a final concert on 15th of September 2023 at stadtgarten koeln, also celebrating our la(te)st release “live at loft”.
we also recorded the soundtrack of my movie “there´s no such thing as altruism”.
