over the last years i’ve had the privilege to score multiple films by irene langemann for ARD (german television), as well as my own short-film. the orchestrations range from double bass + flute (roger kintopf/pauline turillo), to organ/electronics/sounddesign, to full jazz-orchestra.
blackbox belarus – when freedom dies(2025)
this ard documentary traced how the lukashenko regime suppressed the people’s broad protest and silenced the public.
the film “blackbox belarus” follows the protagonists of the first film, now living in cologne and warsaw. they paint the picture of a country marked by fear and depression. the film delivers a harrowing stocktaking of the situation in belarus.
moldova – in the shadow of putin’s war (2023)
this film by irene langemann explores how the russian war against ukraine casts a shadow over moldova. caught between fear of invasion, russian propaganda, and a divided society, the film follows personal fates and political shifts while asking: will the country endure?
belarus – the short dream of freedom (2022)
hundreds of thousands of people protested in 2020 against the rigged presidential elections in belarus. the regime crushed the peaceful protests with brutal violence. the film follows the personal fates of exiled belarusians as well as the drama of the country itself. moving archive footage and little-known images from private sources reveal what has happened in belarus since the 2020 elections.
